Online DB Search Facility

Welcome to the Preserved Railway Stock List online search facility. This is part of a project to locate and identify all the Locomotives and Rolling Stock still extant in the UK at Preservation, Private and Industrial sites. This includes everything from Mainline Steam Locos to Grounded Van Bodies. I must thank Mick Morgan for hosting this facility and his expertise & hard work in setting this up for me. Without his knowledge this would have never got of the ground.

Before attempting a search please read the notes below.....

1. MUST select Search Field 1

    and enter search criteria.

 

2. You may narrow the search by

    selecting Search Field 2 and

    entering a 2nd Criteria.

 

3. Leave Locos & Traction buttons

    at All, or click to restrict results.

    Click None to search Stock only.

 

4. You may narrow Stock search by

    clicking radio button of choice.

    Click None to search locos only.

 

5. Click "Search Database" and if

     your search takes too long, be

     ready to click STOP to see why.

To get the most out of this search facility it’s highly recommended you subscribe to one of the two options available. This will enable you to possess the free lists I send out. With the lists as a reference you will be able to determine how I display the data and will greatly assist you in fine tuning your search criteria.

 

Option 1 - You can subscribe to a quarterly email update where you can select a single category choice. Details can be found here...

Option 2 - You can join the Yahoo group. This choice will make available all the category selections, free to download from the files section of the group. Details of all changes will also be reported on the group. Details can be found here...

If you select a location ie Mid Hants Railway & select all stock this will display in category order (1 – Mainline Steam Loco through to 9 – Wagons) followed by number order. Larger searches for particular stock will display by County, Location order, followed by the above.

 

Mick has made this so flexible you can search for just about anything. A few examples....

 

Steam Loco Search

Gauge: Standard

Search Field 1 – County – Devon

Search Field 2 – Origin – GWR

Stock – Mainline

Loco Traction – Steam

This will list all the GWR Mainline Steam Loco’s in Devon

 

Coaching Stock Search

Search Field 1 – Class/Type - Corridor Brake Second

Search Field 2 – Origin – BR

Stock – Coaching Stock/NPCCS

This will list all the BR Corridor Brake Second (BSK)

 

Wagon Search

Search Field 1 – Notes – D2068

Search Field 2 – Origin – LMS

Stock – Wagons

This will list all the LMS Brake Vans built to diagram D2068
