Hello - Thank you for looking
in! On behalf of the Committee of the Narrow Gauge Railway Society it is my
privilege to welcome you to the fascinating world of Narrow Gauge Railways.
Since the formation of our Society in 1951, interest in
narrow gauge railways has grown in leaps and bounds, and this has been reflected
in the expansion of our membership. What was envisaged as being a small
correspondence group of specialist enthusiasts has grown to a large
international society with a truly international outlook.
Our membership page expands on
what we offer members. The well produced regular publications issued to all
members cover narrow gauge lines at home and overseas, past
and present, the current preservation scene, miniature railways, and the development of all forms of steam, diesel or
electric motive power. We also maintain a most extensive reference
library with an
efficient postal service.
If you are fortunate enough to live near one of our
active area groups you
will be able to attend regular meetings and all members are invited to join us
on organised visits to places of interest.
A warm welcome is assured.
Ronald N. Redman,
Ex Chairman

Latest Publication Goes down a storm:
Our latest publication "The Locomotives of
Severn-Lamb Ltd", which was issued with the latest "Narrow Gauge News" in
January 2010 has gone down a storm with readers. This is a thorough reference to
Severn-Lamb's work.
If you are not a member of the NGRS and wish to
purchase a copy, go to our Book Sales page and
follow the instructions there.
The
Miniature
Railway World's review states : "This excellent new book has
just been printed by the Narrow
Gauge Railway Society, and written by well known miniature railway
personality Dave Holroyde and Lawson Little - about a fascinating company who
have built and continue to build, a huge array of miniature railway locomotives,
both steam and diesel.
Severn Lamb Ltd dates back to 1949, and has always been a family business,
building mainly commercial diesel locomotives, but also steam locomotives and
miniature boats.Although now mainly building narrow gauge locomotives, this book
catologues the all important miniature railway locomotives that got the company
where it is today.
It is good to see that this collection has finally been recorded, and the
loco details and the interesting photos that come with it make it a book worth
buying."
